I had researched and requested this specific one as a gift despite the negative reviews, which I don't understand. Since opening this yesterday, my three year old has watched movies on this player non-stop and the remote is still in the box. There is, in fact, an "enter" button directly above the "play" button. DVD's usually have a menu screen where you have to push "play" or "enter" to get the movie to play, or you can select scene, change movie options, etc.. and I am able to navigate around using the arrow buttons with no problem. This is a great little dvd player and the handle makes it easy for her to carry around! Once charged, the battery lasted through a movie before needing charged again. We had a dual-screen single player, and that was fine back when they could both watch and enjoy something like a Pixar movie. Now the older one wants to watch things like Pitch Perfect, vampire movies, or even Pirates of the Caribbean, but the 13yrold still wants to watch things like Sophia the First or Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Instead of making them take turns suffering, I got two devices.I was incredibly cautious about buying these after reading other reviews of multiple portable DVD players, and I have to say, I'm glad I went with the cheap ones. The batteries really only last through one to one-and-a-half movies, but that's okay since we really only use it in the car where there are cigarette lighters to power them.
